A Legacy of Resilience and Hope
Established in September 2018 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Dune's Homeless Solutions Foundation was founded by Brenda Washington, Executive Director, and Michar Harrison, President, in memory of their son, Michar "Dune" Harrison Jr. Following the tragic accidental drowning of their 22-year-old son, the organization was born out of profound loss and a deep commitment to fostering hope for those in need. Dune's legacy, marked by resilience, compassion, and generosity, continues to inspire and drive the mission of the foundation, ensuring that his spirit endures through dedicated service to the community.

We assist young adults aged 18-24 in Tarrant County who are experiencing homelessness. Dune, A Beacon of Resilience and Compassion
Dune courageously embraced his authentic self at the age of 16, despite the significant challenges he faced as a young LGBTQ+ individual in Tarrant County. During this formative period, he endured a five-year abusive relationship with a considerably older partner, marked by physical and emotional trauma. Local law enforcement's limited intervention-hampered by the complexities of his situation-left him feeling trapped and isolated, with few available resources to support him. A turning point came a year before his passing, when his abuser was finally arrested following a violent incident in a public setting. This development opened a new chapter for Dune, as he began to heal with the unwavering support of his mother, Brenda. He secured employment, found stable housing, and gradually reclaimed his life.
Dune's Legacy of Kindness and Generosity
Beyond his personal struggles, Dune was a remarkable teen whose generosity and compassion left an enduring impact on everyone he encountered. Known for his infectious smile and willingness to help anyone in need, he opened his home to friends and strangers alike, providing shelter, meals, clothing, and assistance in finding employment and transportation without expecting anything in return. Dune's spirit of giving and his boundless kindness have etched his memory deeply into the hearts of those who knew him, ensuring that his legacy of resilience and hope will forever be cherished.
